Starter question

hi. i have an s2 fb with a 12a and a 5spd in it. i have it on good authority that i can use any NA starter on it from first gen up to 91. as long as its NA it should work. now my question is: is the fc starter a better starter? or is there any difference really? thanks.

You will need a different long bolt as the FC starter lacks threads. The bolt needs to be slightly longer and you'll need a nut (with lock washer and flat washer). Yes, it will sound like a stuck pig.

Notice one leg longer than the other? My FC doesn't sound that much different that the 1st gen.

It doesn't sound that bad, but when you go to a rotary meet, you can always tell when an FC starts. If you were to rate the sound of a starter I'd say FB sounds better than FC.

Either works. It's the TII starter that doesn't bolt up directly.
