Starter problem, help!!

This thing is pissing me off... I have the starter hooked up correctly, positive from battery to positive on the starter, negative from battery to starter to chassis like it should be, and then a wire from the selenoid. When i hit positive to the selenoid switch part there, it just makes this rapid 'click click click click click' noise, really fast, but it wont crank. If I remove the starter and test it, it works perfectly fine, the starter is brand new. Why on earth would it work outside the car but not installed?? AARRGGHH!!!

Maybe your battery cables arent up to snuff. Sounds like its time for a new set. The stock alum starter + cable was marginal when it was new. Check your battery terminals too, maybe they're crusty.

hmm, could be... but I've decided. I'm tearing apart a lawnmower, pulling off the pull starter, and rigging it up on the RX. Then I can dump the starter and the battery, saving about 50lbs more, lol.

You say you have a ground to the chassis, but do you have a ground going to the engine? I did this same thing a few years ago in my 79', starter would just click.

do he same with the pos. side of the starter if still the same you need to check your battery and all connection again this mybe an easy problem to fix but we are over looking something 1) check your battery output 2) check
all connectin at battery and at the starter 3) make sure your getting 12 volts at big red wire 4) make your getting 12 volts starter wire the small one while u tune key 5) and if you need to unplug the small wire an get a jumper an from the big red to(small) male on the starter
please let me try to think outside box by the way i have been working on piston engine for 12 years an just new at rotary engines
