SR Motorsports gauge faces
Is anyone here sporting the SR Motorsports gauge faces that are on ebay all the time? I'm curious if they're any good and what the ease of install is like.
Anyone?

I have the 85 gsl-se guages from them although didn't get them from ebay got them from there website(www.streetracerparts.com). Install was easy, just have to be careful when pulling the needles of the old faces, otherwise you just unscrew the old faces and screw the new ones down, you will have to remove would I figured was like a backlight bulbs to run the power wires for the faces to the controler, but I figured you wouldn't need them anyways, as the new faces are reverse indiglow. I could take pics if you wanted to see what they look like, I haven't used them yet, car isn't complete, but they are installed. Install went easy.

What did you pay when buying from them directly? Also, the ebay auctions mention a dimmer. Does their dimmer replace the Mazda dimmer or does it use the dimmer's output voltage as a reference and dims itself? Also, how's the wiring? Do you reuse stock harnesses or is there a lot of splicing?

The way i wired it, the stock dimmer switch works as well. But i mounted the external dimmer switch here: (with some custom fabbing to make it fit)
i think they were $75.
A bitch to install. Glad i did it tho, I broke tons of stuff while doing it tho. Now that i've done it once i could do it again really easy.

I wired mine into the stock dimmer switch. There is already a power and ground right in there, it works great. DOesnt blow any fuses.
Mounting tips: you have to cut a bit of the aluminum behind the plate, becasue the top mounting bracket goes back too far. Mine is just resting in there, pressed between the back plate of the dash and the plastic cover.
I had to be really careful when putting the plastic cover back on, it kept popping the **** out of place. But i got it back in eventually. I think it looks really smooth, nearly stock.

I got mine as a gift..... so they were free. Yeah mine came with a dimmer switch.... You will have to wire it up so it does come on with the lights, not hard, but I don't think you could run if off the stock dimmer alone. Plus the dimmer they sent me has another switch on it for blue and green. Does it work? no really just makes the lights dimmer, seeing is how the numbers are in blue, you couldn't change them to green by simply flicking a switch.
The switch won't ever really change colors just make them dimmer and in doing so appear to have changed, but because the numbers are already in blue they won't change to a complete green. my Bros got a set of indiglow guages(not reverse indiglow, the full guage indiglow) with the same switch and his comes a little closer to the blue to green switch but it again only makes the lights dimmer, which appears to make it green but its dim nowhere near as bright, or really green for that matter.

Its Blue and Red/Orange.
I still haven't seen a properly done needle that is visible at night yet.
That's why mine hasn't been installed yet.

I will try and get another picture of my needles at night.....It looks good..........I dont think the bulb is bright enough to make it really orange........if I were to do it again I would still use the intrepid needles and change the bulbs.......

Is there no way to wire the SR gauges so they dim with the stock dimmer? I really hate to add that dimmer panel under the dash. Also, has anyone tried to redye their needles? Anything like highlighter ink might even work.

You could just have it up underneath where you cant see it......set it where you want it and leave it........I have it on the brightest setting............And I dont ever mess with it........The dimmer switch still works with all the other gauges and the needles.....
