OH squealing alarm

I am hearing an alarm when the car is running. Sounds just like the low water level alarm but not as loud. All fluids and oil are full. It's been doing this on and off since I got it back on the road last week but it would quit after the car would warm up....now it's not stopping. What in these cars sets off the audible alarm? I have no idiot lights on the dash either.

Thanks,
85 base model

I had a fantom buzzer similar to this. At startup mine would slowly increase in volume as it warmed up. I ended up replacing the entire cluster.

Try running the low coolant sensor supply wire at the rad to ground and then start the car. Ground it simulates full and should not buzz.

Off the top of my head, here are a few things that can cause the buzzer. It could be a bad circuit that causes the buzzer (ex: tach 7k but circuit is faulty and going off at other rpms). My not be complete.

1. Low coolant.
2. Seat belt,
3. Door switch.
4. Over rev - Tach over 7k
5. Not sure about over heat sensor.
5. Not sure about low oil.

The "Oscillator" relay-looking thing is located near the radiator support behind the DS headlight and actuator motor. Unplug all 4 connections, and it will probably cease. Be proud that you likely have the world's last working Oscillator, as most died a quiet death from spilled battery acid.

As a side note, the oscillator is black in color, is mostly rectangular, and has the word "Oscillator" printed on it in white lettering. It's behind the battery where LongDuck stated and its affixed to the radiator support with one phillips head screw.

I've experienced the same problem. It is a beep-beep. Unlike the door chime or seat belt alarm. Maybe related to water level sensor, but unresolved issue for me. Fortunately the beeping is very intermittent and seems to go away at times I'm driving the car daily. Now I have a new sensor and the next time it repeatedly starts beeping I'm going to try the changeout.

You can test this by just unplugging the water level sensor. Unplugging simulates low water. Grounding it simulates water level OK.
