starts when 1 coil wire removed??
starts when 1 coil wire removed??
Ok, I don't know if this has been posted before, I'm doing this for a friend...
car is an 81-2? elcectronic ign etc. The car won't start, but if you disconnect 1 of the coil wires it will start and run fine(less 1/2 ign of course)
As soon as you plug the wire back into the coil it dies instantly. The distributor car and rotor have been replaced with known good ones, new plugs, swapped coils etc..
What would cause it do die with the coil(high tension) wires connected.
I don't think that it makes a difference which coil you disconnect. It will run on either coil depending on which wire you remove.
I'm thinking the best way to bypass the stock ign is to just convert to DLIDFIS(sp?) running 3 coils and 3 igniters.
Any ideas?

very bizarre.
make sure the grounds and all fuses are good... you might have a situation where you only have enough power going through the ignition circuit to power one coil, and when you connect them both up the ignition dies...

thats' actually what I figured.. I phoned him right after I posted and told him that... Great minds think alike
I'll reply to this again after he checks through the grounds.
Thanks!
