Question Speedo cable hook up

Is it possible to hook it back up without removing the instrument cluster?

Today, I looked into why the speedo on my new 7 wasn't working and sure enough the cable is dangling around under the dash. I can't find where it goes though.

I seem to remember disconnecting my speedo cable by reaching under the dash. But this was a decade ago and now I'm no longer sure it was an Rx7...

Yep, you can. You have to be a contortionist, though. You pretty much need to do it this way even with the cluster out as the cable is too short to reach unless you disconnect from tranny. You have to get your arm up under there, bend it around the metal plate underneath the cluster and feel around for where it plugs in. There is a little metal cylinder on the back of the cluster where it plugs into. Also check the white clip on the speedo cable to make sure it isn't broken. That holds the speedo cable in place. Good luck.

Well, I guess it's good that I can reconnect without taking the instrument cluster out and I guess it's bad that the cluster has to been in for the cable to reach!

Lucky for me that the white clip is good, so I won't have to do this a second time.

I Hope that you have a garage for the 7 during these tough times in France.

Got it!

The key is to rest your head at the shifter and reach up with your right hand. Pretty easy actually.

Thanks a bunch.

Good deal. Glad you got it. My 7 is safe at home in the US. I am working over here for a year. I miss the 7, but I am glad that I don't have to worry about it getting burned up.
