The two problems with the OEM place are the depth and the placement.

The depth is something like 50mm.

The placement basically plays at your feet so you should consider a speaker with a directional tweeter.

I used the Hertz ECX100 since it full filled the above and had a nice sounding tweeter. Do not expect wonderful imagining or mid bass.

what i'vve found fits perfectly and pumps out some clear sound for the money and size are the Infinity reference series 4" speakers. i have a set in every FB that i own and love them.

careful with the rear speakers too.. The depth back there is only about 55mm. I ended up putting in 5.25" speakers with an adapter for the 6.5" only because I wanted to use my old soundstream exact 5.3 components.

I have a 85 Gsl-se and for the rear I put in pioneer 3-way speakers in they cost me like $55 but they fit in just like factory but sound really good. Just go to a meijer if u have one close by they have speakers that will fit perfect for the front and rear.

If you go with a 6.5 for the rear, chances are they will be too big. I have never been able to fit a set of 6.5 speakers in the rear without cutting the holes bigger. The last 6.5 speakers I put in my car were way too big. After I cut the holes bigger I couldn't get a flat mounting surface. I ended up cutting the holes a lot bigger and I mounted a piece of thin plywood over the original hole and mounted the speakers to the plywood. there is plenty of room between the speakers and the plastic speaker covers too, so no worries about fitment, or vibration.
