Sound reduction interior
Sound reduction interior
I have a lot of noise coming from the rear hatch area. Other than replacing the hatch seal, what can I do to seal or insulate this area? I thought about foam rubber pad over the spare. and stuffed in gehind the tail-lights. Anyone used Dynamat?
What kind of sounds are we talking about? Muffler? Gear noise? Road noise? Squeakyy suspension noise?
You could just turn the radio up! Hehe or you could lay some dynamat under the carpet. I do believe there is already sound reductin material under there, and most people take it out to reduce weight. The material is however, tarred on. I think the easy way is to buy some dry ice and let it freeze, then bang it with a BFH and it should just shatter right off. Or you could scrape it by hand...
Then lay some dynamat down. I've never used it so I don't really know how it "attaches" or "mounts" but I figure you might want to start on a clean slate, so to speak.
Good Luck!

Imma get the 3 in 1 insulator, sound reducer, and some other function out of the Victoria British catalog and throw that under my rear hatch carpet. Dunno how well it owrks, but its cheap and easy
I put down FATMAT when i did my stereo install and it reduced the road noise by 15db. You can get this stuff off of EBAY. The product is great but shipping took a while. Take a look.

1/2" thick closed cell dense polyurethane foam is GREAT at killing noise, and is Tons cheaper than stuff they make to sell to the booming kids.
it is also a lot lighter than dynamat.
