Talking Sorry guys, but I scored again!

I know that many of you have problems with your gas tanks rusting and what not, I know I have had some issues.....

I never expected to be able to find one over here, but Look what I found! the very last NOS still in the box unit here in Japan

NO RUST AT ALL

eat your hearts out.

hugs and kisses

42,000 yen...at todays exchange rate 115yen = 1$ its about 365.00 USD.

where can I order some of the preserviative for the inside? .... the outside is a cinch, their are several types of commercial asphalt based coatings that I think will work well, but I would really like to coat the inside too, especially since I will be cutting and gutting this new tank to make it work with my fuel pump pickup combo.

Check with Aircraft Spruce http://www.aircraftspruce.com/. They have a lot of info and good products for fuel systems.

if you go to your local radiator shop they should be able to coat the inside of the tank..i had a tank off my 56 oldsmobile that i took to them and they boiled the tank out and coated it..or you can ask them to sell you a bottle of the stuff and you can do it yourself..

That's funny. You paid 200 for your last 7 and now you're tickled that you found a tank for nearly twice the price of the last car. I would say that's about right for any dedicated enthusiast.

I think that maybe its becasue the fuel rollover vent, and the emissions vents are different. IRRC that was one of the things you had to change inorder to ship a JDM sa/fb back to the states (mind you that is form like 20 some odd years ago though)

I will check out some of the links you guys sent me. gotta do this one up right.

Your right. It's no big deal at all. PM me so I can take them off your hands. I think I saw a $20 in my wallet the other day...

Too bad you're gonna hack up a perfectly new one.

You should hack up a REGULAR tank instead.

Kenn,

Look into the Red-kote product for the inside of your tank. I heard alot of great things about it from car and motorcycle shops that swear by the product before I bought and used it on my refurb project. I'm pre-mixing and not a bit of problem. Like a permanent skin on the inside of my tank.

Good luck and great find.
