Just quit throwing out your blown motors and have them resurfaced.

I searched mazda-parts.com and onlinemazdaparts.com and both showed it is available

12A is NLA for a fact. it took me great lengths to track down a pair of new 12A housings and they came from a different continent! my rebuild better last another 200k... perhaps i'll tear em apart before then and cermet coat it

Those sites are individual mazda dealers who may have some left in their inventory. Dealer inventory is notoriously questionable. Not sure how accurate their stock quantities are as in the past I've ordered from onlinemazdaparts.com and their site said in stock but they cancelled later due to not in stock.

I searched mazda's corporate warehouses in ontario, etc.. and 0 inventory.

Honestly I don't see the 12a rotor housings not being made at all. Some one will change it a little or buy the right to make it from mazda and keep making them.

so ive decided that im going to try out that cerment deal..i have a somewhat decent rotor housing with chrome flaking and all..im going to be sending it out to have them grind the surface. they say that they have a trochoid grinder and they take about .003 off the surface to clean it up leaving it fresh again. its a bit pricey about 250 a rotor housing. so if this one comes out good then ill grab another useless one and send it out again. so this is more of a test of product i guess. im prolly going to try to do it next week so stay tuned for update's.

here is the website incase any of you guys are interested in what im talking about.

Look up their reviews ... I'm not sure how they are now (they "say" they're better), but quite a few people have had issues with them in the past (just search this forum). I've personally seen two 13b housings that they did, and after being run for about 5k and pulled apart and the ceramic was flaking off. As far as I remember though, I think that they were only lightly scuffing the chrome before and alot of people have believe that it wasn't enough of an edge for the coating to grab on properly. If they are grinding things off now it probably would adhere better but if I were you I'd verify that with a few other sources first though. Lastly, another thing that has happened with them before is that people sent out their housings to get coated and received other ones.

A tip though if you do go down that road, and I'm sure that they've been recommending this too is to do all your porting before sending it out to not create any sharp edged around the ports and making it easier to catch on too and flake it.

Just my 2 cents.

I couldn't find it on their site, but before I'm sure it said that if you wanted the original housing back to make a note of it and it would take a little longer to be serviced.

I would assume that most people would send out their own housings due to different portings. I figure if you're doing that much to an engine you'd do some sort of porting. But thats just me.

Our motors are just old. It won't be long before Mazda stops supporting s4 and s5 engines. I think they would rather sell rx8 parts. That why it costs more to rebuild a rotary than what the car is worth. Luckily I have enough spares to put together two early 13b's. As far as 12a a guy did do a thread where he machined old 13b housings into 12a including cutting the o ring grove. This could be easily done on a cnc mill and I would bet it would take less than an hour to machine a housing after a program and a fixture was made to locate and hold the housing so they could be done in production. But someone has to step up to spend the cash and it would be hard to make a profit doing this.
