Someone wiith some inginuity please...

So while i was re-installing my OMP block off plate(desinged buy one Peter A.Trapino)the lower bolt hole snaped into three peices.
So just short of removing the front housing and swaping it what can i do ie. will it withstand welding of some sort or would that mess up the oil pump chain or bearings. Or is the some sort of jb weld i could use. Or could i drill and tap just to the left of the existing hole.
Any input would be great.Thank everyone who respond for your time.

do you mean the plate broke or the front housing? im guessing the housing because if it was the plate you would just replace it right? well, the jb weld would probably work pretty good. you could get a new front housing from a junk yard. personally i would use jb weld for good sealing and use the good bolt hole(s) as well to prevent any severe vibration from knocking the plate off. then i would look around different junk yards for a good deal on a new housing

It's the front cover not the front housing, and yes, you can replace it without pulling the engine. Just have to support the motor.

I dont think itll hold up with jb weld. Best bet is to swap out the cover or have it welded by a competent welder, then re-drill and tap. And beware of the pitfalls of the front cover/pulley hub removal replacement.

I would'nt think the cover would get over 200 deg. JB weld is worth a shot. What do you have to lose?
If it leaks replace the cover. Good Luck

I'd go with a new front cover. JB weld should do the job, but the problem is going to occur if you ever need to take the plate off.

I have 1/8 and 1/4 allum. stock but would steele work better. I also have some thin tin would that be ay good? thanks for all the help everyone.

I'd use aluminum so that the thermal expansion characteristics will be the same as the aluminum front cover. Make sense?
