Some advice???
I have a possible chance to own one of these cars and I know absolutely zero about them.
The car I have been offered is a 1984 GSL-SE RX7 with 220K on the body. How ever it has a 1990 model motor in it a fuel injected 13B motor. Just wondering if this would be a reliable car and if this motor swap was an apropiate donar motor and has anybody had any experience with swapping motors from newer cars?
Any advice would be great thanks folks.

welcome to the board.
the simple answer:
provided the engine swap was done correctly and the engine is in decent-to-good health, then yes. it should be VERY reliable.
the less simple (but more realistic) answer:
it's a 30-year old car with a 24-year old engine. i would dare say it's not a pristine example, but let's say it's decent ... you'll still have some work to do and things are still going stop working. you need to understand that you will need money when these things happen and how much money will totally depend on how much work you can do for yourself (or if you know someone that knows these cars and is willing to help out).
on a completely separate note ... you might want to post your questions in the New Member section - especially questions like this. take your time to acclimate yourself and read the stickies and FAQs and such. the Gen I guys are the best, most laid-back group on the board, but even they (we) can ignore a post like this once in a while since it's been asked many times. you probably won't get flamed too bad, but my point is there is extra tolerance in the New Member section.

I think we'd need to know a little more about your own technical abilities before recommending an -SE;
1) if you've worked on fuel injected engines before, or rotary engines in general
2) are you handy? Can you do an oil change? A radiator swap? Brakes?
3) is this a daily driver? Will you only drive it on weekends and summertime?
4) have you looked into insuring it? Know that it gets poor gas mileage? Does that even matter?
5) Reputable seller? Most people don't know how to swap in an ECU for a later model car to make the staged fuel injection work on a later engine - unless he only took the 13b core out, and used the EFI from the -SE. In that case, it's at best a half-swap, and at worst a series of mis-matched parts waiting to fail which few people here will know how to work on (as the engine/EFI is a Gen2 edition).
Based on answers to those questions, this may or may not be a good purchase. Good luck,
