So what do you think of my plan (626 wheels)
Some of you may remember the June '97 issue of SPC. In it they have what they call an 85 GSL-SE that has 15x6 wheels from a 626. I've always liked the look of those wheels, and it just so happens I might be able to get my hands on a set...
I noticed in the picture the wheels have a clear 4-bolt pattern, and I thought the -SE was 5-bolt. Is this just a mistake in the article or am I missing something here. I always thought the 626 wheels were a direct 15 inch replacement for the stock 110x4 bolt pattern on the non -SE's?
Anyways, this guy down the street has a pretty beat up 626 that looks like it hasn't moved in a couple years. I'm thinking of offering him a trade +$50 or something. He can have my decent stock '7 wheels for his 626 wheels. Anyone have an opinion on these? I think they look pretty cool.

6" sounds a little bit skinny for 15 inch rims on a Seven, but hey if they're free and they fit why not? I have 14x6's though and they're alright, I just thought the usual replacement people made is more like 15x7. You just might get some sidewall flex if you plan on running wide tires.
If you have a GSL, not an SE and the wheels fit a GSL-SE, they will NOT fit your car. The 79-85 RX's had a 4 x 110 mm bolt pattern. The 84-85 GSL-SE had a four bolt pattern, but it was not 110mm. I think it was 114mm.
Won't work.
And rocket is right 6" is kinda skinny.
If your car is an 84 GSL like your signature says, you are going to have a tough time finding wheels/tires for it. Sorry.

The SE's have a 4x114.5 pattern, but as far as I know some of the early 626 wheels do have the 4x110 pattern. You might want to search the forum, as I'm sure it's been discussed before.
My wheels are old CSA's with the right bolt pattern, except I'm pissed because I just bent one of them last summer and I'm definitely not in the mood to pay for new wheels and tires. If you're willing to wait around and look carefully enough, you might find a deal somewhere on something similar.

the early 626's do have 4x110. They also have 13 inch wheels. kinda useless to us. the later models had 4x4.5.
I found a set of 15" rikens on a junkyard 626 for 80 bucks. I wish it was that easy to find wheels for my 12a cars.
BTW I still have that issue of SCC. They had a turbo GSL-SE and a 3rd gen autocrosser from Tripoint Engineering.

The 626 turbo rims do fit on the GSL-SE they look exactly like the 14in phone dial rims that are on the base model 2nd gen but are 15in. A friend of mine has them on his red 84 GSL-SE and he painted them black looks pretty cool. I was going to get a set for myself because the 626 turbo shows up in the junkyards around here all of the time but I found somthing better.

Hey Max7 Ive seen the pics of your new car on your website and the rims you have on there now are very nice. Swiching to the 626 wheels would be a serious down grade. I guess for fun it would be cool to slap them on there just to see how it looks, they do look alright. By the way I would like to thank you for the how too on your site about installing a battey box in the rear of the car. I bought the same one and put it in my TII 1st gen becuse my intercooler piping was going to hit the battery in the stock location. I followed the ideas you shared about heating up the bottom of the box and contouring it to fit in the storge bin area I even got the storge bins to fit back in place with a little modification. Ill post a pic of it soon.

I dont know what wheels come off of other cars that will fit the 4x110 bolt pattern . You could just do what I do and go to the junk yard and pull wheels you like off of other cars and while your there and go and test fit them on a seven thats in the yard. I got some sweet rims at the junk yard they look just like panasports but are 14in and made by enkie. Ill post some pics of them wensday after I clean them.

THE ONLY CARS THAT CAME WITH THE DAMN 4x110mm BOLT PATTERN ARE 1st GENS, AND THAT ERA GLC's & 626's, AND PRE-7 ROTARIES. Oh and some sort of toyota with 12" steel wheels.

BTW the LE rims are 14inch w/4x110mm bolt pattern.

The Original 626 has the 4x110 bolt pattern, the car that looks like this and came only with 13 inch wheels (Mine has 14 inch's tho)
The next generation 626 had the 4x114.3 pattern same as the -SE and came with 14 and 15 inch wheels.
