removing stock wing
Does anyone know how to remove the stock rear wing? I'm trying to get it off my '83 GSL, but there are two bolts I can't seem to reach. There are 6 bolts altogether (as far as I can tell), and then two screws at the front. The ones I can't reach are out on the sides, behind the screws. I'm about to take the ol' Dremel to it and carve up the wing, but if I can get it off w/out damaging it, that would be better.
BTW, what's everyone's opinion on the stock wing. I think they look much cleaner without.

I'm starting to like the spoiler. It was a dealer-installed option, so they were all installed to assembled cars. Removing it from an assembled car shouldn't be THAT difficult.
Here's the story behind it:
Mazda ran a set of Magazine ads in late December 1981, that displayed
the
new IMSA-style accessories package, which included a 3-piece front
airdam
and 3-piece rear spoiler with a optional stainless steel targa ban. All
of
the parts were available as a set or separately. Mazda East dealerships
received the parts in mid-December '81, while the Mazda Central dealers
waited an additional 30-days and received the parts in January '82. The
pieces were shipped to dealerships unpainted due to problems that might
arise in color matching all of the cars that had already been sold. The
complete accessories line morphed into the Mazda "Finish Line" program
in
later years which continued to carry the IMSA package.
I think a reason these parts are kind of rare, was the pricing.
$170->$200 - front spoiler
$170->$200 - rear spoiler
$200->$250 - targa band
This plus an additional $250 for paint and installation by the
dealership.
So, for $590->$650 dollars without targa band or $790-$900 with the
targa
band, one had the IMSA package. That was a little pricey in '82.

I'm sure it probably looked a lot cooler back in '82, but now it's cracked and collecting leaves and rust at the base of my rear hatch.
If they arrived unpainted, might that be why earlier ones are all flat black?

the middle piece is attached under the rear decking with 3 11mm bolts, once you remove that there are 2 screw on each side of the 'horn' looking things, then 1 screw each side at the front. Most of the time they were secured with silicone or urethane and may be a slight bitch to lift off

I have the stock one piece spoiler... I'm wondering the opposite...
How the hell do I install it?
It came with two bracket clippy deals that go to the front edges of the spoiler...
It looks like a "C" if you look at it from above, with the back to the left... ( I was gonna draw ASCII Art, but it looks shitty.)
