sniper EFI on a five letter?
sniper EFI on a five letter?
Hello all, I want to comment to those who seek to "eliminate the rats nest", and those who use aftermarket carb setups about the driveability of the 13B Resi engine in the 1985 GSL SE. The driveability is excellent. I previously owned RX4, and a 5 new and now have my dream RX7. The driveability is excellent with good characteristics for no popping or klepping, no backfires ever, easy starting, eager on warm up, driveable when hot or cold. When tuned properly it runs very well and has excellent low end torque with a high thoughput exhaust header system (RB). You can feel the resonant power at low RPMs so to me it is not desirable to modify. However, (there is always a but), the throttle body seems a bit worn, sticky and could benefit from better flow. Could a sniper EFI 4 bbl.carb be the answer? I'd like to experiment and see if the EFI could replace the throttle body and keep everything else in the intake tubing stock as possible. Lots of benefit from higher flow, bigger throttle butterflies, but the OEM intake is sort of a three way affair, how do you adapt the base plate of the sniper to its cutout? Any ideas? It seems to have adequate low height to fit, the adapter plate holes are about the right size. The aux vacuum ports on the sniper could be used to accommodate stock controls. Could be a big performance increase. Can resonance effects still occur if you use a larger throttle flapper valve, below the air cleaner?
