smoking catalitic converter

I just put a new cat in my 84 SE and notice that its smoking. The smoke is coming from all the gaskets that are attached to the cat. Does anyone know what this means? are the gaskets or the cat braking in?? the cat is brand new and i'm sure there are no oil leaks from the transmission.

It's any oil, grease, whatever was on your hands burning off from being handled. It should go away
