bbs wheels on a 1st gen miata???

hey guys... I was on the junkyard today and i found 2 1st gen rx-7s. I saw one that had 14 inch BBS wheels with a 2inch or so lip. These wheels looked awesome but I did nto know how wide they are or how much they weight. The do look just like the BBS wheels on the 2nd gen rx-7s except for being 4 lug. and they had the mazda emblem on the middle. The guy wants 25 for each but one has a big fat dent. any info on these wheels?

Need pics but I doubt they are BBS if they have the Mazda emblem on them. Most likely wheels from the coveted LE model. The 3 that are in good shape would be worth it, and possibly the dented one if it can be fixed. $25/piece isn't bad.

Werd!

BTW, those wheels were only used on the 83 LE, which had a production of 5,000 cars. $100 for a set is a smokin deal.

They won't fit a Miata anyway. The 1st gens (most anyway) have the oddball 4x110mm pattern. Aren't the Miata's 4x114.3 (like the 4 lug 2nd gen rx7s)?

If you got those wheels, yes someone will buy them. Highly desirable wheels, for sure. I know I have a set for my FB. I love them. Great classic design.

Miata uses 4x100, same as Honda.

I see. I thought that it was either 4x114.3 or 4x100, but wasn't sure which.

If it fits on Miata then it won't fit on the FBs.

The reason people want those 1983 LE wheels is that they are a reasonable compromise, being 14 inch, and they are very light weight. I have a set on one of my FBs. A price of $50 or less is a good price per wheel if they are in good condition.

I also have a set of the 15 inch BBS alloys from a 1990 convertible on my other car. Those are 15 inch and are, I believe, lighter weight than any street legal wheel you can buy that is 15 inches or larger.

A 1st gen definitely looks better with something larger than 13 inch wheels, though I personally think 15 inches is big enough.
