Ok so i had my 1980 sit for 5 years got a knew tank and carb and started it up.........the oil looked fin so i didnt worry too much about it.....drove 50 miles and then changed the oil.....after the oil chang it smoked at start up.......It was bad.........lots of blue smoke......when it wormed up it stoped......The car never smoked when i drove it the 50 miles. So why after the oil chang dose it smoke.....also i have more power.......I Cherp 3rd gear.Before i never even got close to cherping 3rd?

I put 4 qurts of oil.

 

Well warm up the car and throuttle it up to 4000rpm for 15 sec. If it smokes like hell then one of your oil seals is bad. Because the car sit for so long the o-ring might of got dry and when you start it everything else was dry and it migh of nicked an o-ring. Did you drove it hard before the oil change?

Check your level before worrying too much. Since it was just changed, chances are that's the issue. If not, then maybe it's time for some Lucas...
