Smitomo HTR 200's 500 mile test

Well theyve been on the car car for about 500 miles. Nothing but good things to say about them. They handle well wet or dry, arent real noisy, have good road feel. The ones I have are 215/50/13 on stock rims. Only problem is I did get a flat yesterday (lotsa debris around here) and the jack wouldnt fit under the car on the pinch weld. I also have ST springs on the car. I had to lift the car about 1/2" and kick the jack into place. Quite a feat of coordination.

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking of getting a set in 185/60/13 for my second Fiesta. I have a friend who can get them for about $40 each with no shipping.

215s on the stock wheels... no wonder one went flat. Heh.

I just got a set of 185 Yokohama Avid T4s, and I give them the thumbs up also. Probably not as good for traction but I'll bet they feel a lot more "crisp."

See Carl? I told you

I'm on my second set of those tires, exact same size, very satisfied with them.

I ran over a bolt, thats what caused teh flat. I ran that same size years ago with the BFG TA tires without any problems. Yes thats on the stock cross wheels. No pics, but I can take some.

No problem with clearances using that size tire on a stock setup? Looking for some new rubber to replace the 4 snow tires I currently have on (don't yell at me, I bought it that way!).

Oh yeah good point. Do you rub anywhere at all Carl? I have 10 mm spacers on to be able to have that width tires without rubbing anywhere. Or is it 5 mm? I can't remember.

gslse sumos

I just got a set of 205/60/14 htr 200s for my gslse. Good tires so far though, i should have gotten a little wider and and lower profile size. i was worried that they might rub. They hook up really good, i can drop the clutch at 5000 rpm without much wheel spin at all. Does anyone know if wider/lower profile tires would rub?

i have the same ones on my car, and they are good, the only thing that bother me that have soft sidewall and you could feel the tire roll on a autoX pretty good

that would be awesome! i just want to see how the car sits with the suspension and tires. i thought about going with 215/50, but i figured it might not sit well.

My HTR 200s are hopefully on their way to Big-O-Tires right now. I ordered them and can't wait. I'm getting 205-60-13s for my stock rims. I'm glad to hear the good things.

That's because you guys are running them on the stock rim.

Truly a weakness of this tire. I try to compensate by keeping the pressure at just under 50 psi.

Yea I did notice a little flexing. But I know Im running a little too low on the pressures so I plan to bump them up a little at a time till Im really happy. The nice thing is that even though the sidewall is soft, on a 50 series tire its really short so it shouldnt be that bad one the pressures are right. I'll snap a pic after I get the spare off. Its making the car sit lopsided.

Oh and no rubbing so far. Stock struts (no coilovers).
