Slip on coil over kits?

Anyone retro fit one of the cheap slip on coil over setups? I'm looking to raise the fron tof the car about 2 inches. I'd like to retain the factory springs/struts if possible though. Anyone know the FWD strut diameter off hand?

I used an MKIII supra kit on my FC to do this...

From experience, you'll damage the springs if you do that. The bottom part will tuck into the larger diameter coils and bend.

I just bought some 14" 250lb springs for my new struts, which are WRX rear struts modified to fit by sacrificing another set to make the ears extra-long. THOSE struts are 2" OD, and generic threaded sleeves for 2" shocks fit just fine. 8" travel here I come.

huh... thats odd. Appreciate the input though. I won't be road racing or anything. I ran the above setup for over 5 years on my FC with a heavy all iron 3.8 turbo setup. The car would yank both wheels off the ground and came down pretty hard. I never had an issue. I found a 2" set for an eclipse for $55 shipped. I think I'll give it a whirl.

thanks!

Well I did it. $50 coil over kit from Ebay. Time will tell. I will make sure to keep a close eye on it for sagging. For now it was the cheapest and easiest way to get another 2" of clearance up front. With the 30x14" tires and full spool rearend I won't be going around corners very quickly!

Thanks for all the input.

Yup, throwing some 32's on this beotch...

No it's setup for drag racing. Only running a 24" wheel up front at the moment and that nets me 3" of ground clearance. I plan to raise it about 1.5" and run a 26" tire up front.

I don't really have a good side profile of the car now that the engine is in. But this was with no engine.

I have a hard time paying that much for my application. The supplied springs in the ground control kit wouldn't even be used. They are to stiff for drag racing. I could have also just ground off the spring perch welds and moved it up 1.5". I like to know I can raise it more if I need to and this required no welding.

Damn that things badass. I love the paint scheme. I'm inspired.

Paint is coming up on my list, and I'm contemplating some wild 80's paint accents / stripes. This is one of them.

you do know that if you called ground control they can get any spring you can imagine, and some you can't, right?

Thanks for the input, but they don't make a drag spring. I can pick up some drag springs for about $130 anytime from summit that would work well. It's not just the poundage but the travel amount / rate. Without going to drag springs and 90/10 struts, this is one of the best (and cheapest by far) options.

I've been doing this awhile and have tried many different setups on my FC. Old OEM struts with no gas left in them lifted OEM springs just plain work for drag racing.
