silver wire from exhaust?

while looking for the cause of my statiky sound coming from stereo i found out that when i was taking my tranny out i must have accidentally pulled a silver wire out. it goes from around the cat area to somewhere inside the car, idk what it plugs into, i was wondering if you guys could tell me, thanks.

Yeah, you must have an '84-'85 car.

I used to know what it's called but I think it's the exhaust overheat sensor like Ben said. I simply took a small piece of steel, drilled two holes in it and stuck it on the exhaust flange when the connecting pipe went into an '83. As for the '84 car, it got a different exhaust and I simply used some mechanic's wire to tie the sensor probe thing up out of the way. It didn't affect anything.

except when you park over leaves for extended periods of time lol it does nothing. You would know your exhaust was that hot way before that light came on!

Cooking grass smells kinda good, when you're in the right mood I guess.

I thought that was the cat overheat sensor. The exhaust overhead sensor that triggers the dash light is on the floorboard?
