I'll be away for the holidays for a week or so - if I'm gone longer, I probably slid off a mountainside driving to the coast.

Some random thoughts:

It's interesting how many of us into 1st gens come from an engineering and/or military background. Perhaps it's the 'elegance in it's simplicity' design of both car and engine that draws us... or maybe ReXes are cool cars that appeal to intelligent people

Even through the minor flare ups lately, this remains one of the most active, informative, informal, and FRIENDLY forum I've ever encountered. Some of oyu I know face to face, and some just through emails, PMs, and phone convos but quite a few of you I consider friends, a title I'm pretty picky about using.

Thanks for all the support and advise, and I look forward to contributing more in the new year.

Happy holidays and godspeed.

I think you hit that on the head.

Take care, enjoy your holidays, and stay safe on your trip.

That also applies to Corvair people, I think it has to do with being different.

Happy Holidays.

Nah, because Saturn people are different, and... well, I'll stop there.

Kind of ironic that Military types would be viewed as 'different' when, while I was in uniform, being called an 'individual' was an insult! *L*

Stripgear: Corvair?! Are you sure it doesn't have to do with being from a looney bin?

Have fun on holiday Manntis, see you in a week or so.

Happy Holidays everybody!

They can't be different while in uniform. That is an oxymoron. You can't have difference in uniformity. Maybe the reason why people in the military that are associated to this uniformity strive to appear unique in other social functions. Driving a car with a mysterious rotary engine will show uniqueness and individuality. Whats ironic is how we come together and seek out other who are looking for the same individuality.

Hey Manntis, YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE!

So as a Corvair and an 1st gen guy, what does that make me?
Hey Carl, didn't you read 357?

Corvair?! Are you sure it doesn't have to do with being from a looney bin?
WE'RE FROM A LOONEY BIN!

I guess I'll go back to the "L-B" now, that's where I keep my '82 GS and my '66 Corsa convertible with the 140 HP engine. (That's 4 one barrel's on one engine for those of you that don't know!)

A Rex AND a Corsa! DUde, you are my hero! The COrsa was one of my all-time favorite cars. Love that dashboard! Biggest mistake I ever made was selling mine...
