Shutter Valve Working?
Shutter Valve Working?
Finally through my bad back, so fiddling with the car again.
Fixing a high idle. Lubed the linkages and all now good. But this noise at deceleration? (Video attached). Right at the end of deceleration a three or four second sucking hiss then a pop like a cork being pulled. I think this is the shutter / coasting valve because if I pull the vacuum line off the solenoid that my manual is shutter/coasting, the noise stops.
Doesnt seem to be the ‘honking’ noise that folks say comes with a bad shutter valve. Am I just hearing what the carb is supposed to sound like when you lift off the throttle? Do I care? Car runs great and I remove the cats between smogs so not worried about unburned fuel into cats when I lift off the throttle.
I know, piddling little problem compared to what others are dealing with here, but I like to learn.
