shutter valve fault? ALL Suggestions Welcome
12a with RB presilencer
compression test (home style) 100psi
Fuel: new pump, filter, gastank removed, cleaned.
New wires, plugs, cap & rotor.
ignition timming checked=on
carb. rebuilt & set
Problem; idles fine. spudders and chokes above 50mph.
cannot tell if lacks acceleration, because I have been having to use motorcycle for transportation.
1. could shuttervalve cause problem?
2. bad anti afterburn valve?
3. or something else?
This problems driving me CRAZZZY!! Make me think stupid after 8 hours of ghost chasing.

If the secondarys weren't opening, it just would lack power. It would still be able to get up to 80-90mph.
Definitely sounds of a fuel problem. The carb was rebuilt - by who? Were the filters at the banjo fittings on top of the carb replaced/thrown out? I had one HELL of a fuel starvation problem one time when those little "last chance" filters were clogged. With rust. From the hardlines going *to* the banjo fittings. It was ugly. Then again, so was the rest of the carb - many of the jets were stopped up with nasty white scale, and the scale was 1/4" deep in the bottom of the float bowls.
Try blowing out the lines with compressed air first. I would suggest removing the fuel filler cap first, and replacing the fuel filter immediately after.

I rebuilt the carb, it was in good shape, no build up of varnish or sediment, the previous owner had the car servicest at a dealership, I have all paperwork. I've had the car for 2 years 100000 miles, with minmal maintance to do on the engine. I tied a wire around the
?secondary accuator rod? to allow the secondaries to open mechanically after I read rx7carls first post. Thinking that my have been the orginal problem. Fuel lines from gas tank to carb are clear. Unfortunatelly, it didn't help the problem, but I got great acceluration. I'm starting to think I have a distrbutor problem. I read that adjusting the timming does not guarantee that the distributor is advancing properly. Gentlemen, any suggestions?
