Sub-Zero assist......should it stay or should it go? I thought I read somewhere that it was a recall item that the dealer should have removed.

How about Hot Start Assist? Should it stay or should it go? Does it serve any useful purpose other than depressing the accelerator slightly when the engine is hot? Is that all it does? Is it worth keeping?

Let the opinions begin....

You do not necessarily need either unless you drive your car in the Wisconsin winter. If you don't then ditch them and lose some engine bay clutter.

Orion, I DID drive my car every day through last Winter.....(started flawlessly every time, kinda squirrelly in the snow though..). The Sub-Zero container didn't empty one bit....the liquid inside looks like it's 28 years old....

the sub zero starting assist was only installed on cars with federal emissions and was removed on many 7's before sale in the lower states. at any rate, the system weighs less than 5 lbs and though its really not needed, is kind of a neat thing to have. i always leave them in place. the mixture in the resivour is 90% antifreeze 10% water.

I removed both of those items years ago, never noticed a difference in starting up in heat or cold.

it really depends on what you want to do with it. if you're racing or it's your street/track toy remove it as it's unnecessary. if you plan on doing a complete restoration and maybe eventually trying to auction it, having those in it will fetch top dollar from a collector because of how rare it is to find a car with it anymore. remember, in 5 years the last of the fb's will be considered classic cars so in theory, their value should level out and maybe even go up, especially for completely original cars
