Just because he's new and has a low post count doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about. Being respectful is a part of this forum. And, you're not helping much either with your reply. It's a good way to get a warning from the moderators.

As per your original question, yes, it should start up. There have been many a story of people blowing a seal and they could still bring the car home on one rotor. You won't have much power from one rotor, but it should start up fine, IIRC.

If you run into any other problems, check out the FSM for your car. It should give you some good info.

hes right

85 FB is right. You can still run the car, but u might burn a little oil. I would sugest the rebuild kit from Atkins Rotary. I put one in my 12A and now it runs great!
Good luck and let me kno how it goes!

The only times I have done that was when I got a car with a blown apex in it already. It started up horrible, then I just revved the **** out of it until it quit. Both were with engines that hadn't started in years.

Try pouring a little Marvel Mystery oil down the intake, then start it. It will be much easier to start.

How do you know it has a bad seal? It could be a stuck seal which mmo or atf would help in getting unstuck.

Engines that have been sitting can be a bugger to get started.

But even engines that haven't can be tough sometimes. Have you tried pulling the spark plugs, giving it a good 10-sec count of cranking, then cleaning off the plugs (use a lighter to burn the excess gas then a wirebrush to clean the contacts) and trying again? These things are bloody hard to start when flooded.

Assuming you've got spark on your leading plugs and you're not getting too much (or too little) gas, you should be able to start it. Now if it's cold and/or your cranking speed is low, that might be a problem. I'd get a battery terminal cleaner (they're like $2 at napa) and clean those off to make sure you have good contact, then hook a set of booster cables from another car to get you the cranking power.

So yeah, if your carb isn't messed up, deflooding and making sure you've got spark and your cranking speed is up should get you going.

I'm sure you've read this thread already:

but I thought I'd point it out in case somebody in the future brings up this thread in a search and hasn't read the FAQ.
