I was thinking about upgrading my Carb/Intake deal.
So I was wondering should I go with the Holly setup (600or 650 cfm) or should i go with the Delorto (48)

A buddy of mine has the dellorto and its absolutley awesome. Yet i havent seen anybody with the holly setup out here.

So what are the pros and cons to both and which would make me all and all faster?

Holley is ok too but I don't know, WEBER/Dellorto/mikuni sounds-looks-and feels just better.

I see Holley more of a 1/4 mile type carb specially good for runing NOS. Just my opinion.

 

I run a Holley and as I've said in previous posts, u'll get alittle better gas mileage with the Holley than with the large bore 2 bbl carbs. I have used a Mikuni carb and it along with others of this type do give quicker response in city driving. If the Holley could be rigged to open all 4 bbls at the same time, it would yield the same result. But I really don't think there's any difference in either at WOT. The Holley I use is a 465cfm, what RB offers for stock engine. I also have one of their carbs for street ported engines which is I think either 500 o 550cfm. I tried it one time on the stock engine where I found that it is jetted too rich for stock. The engine was much stronger with the 465cfm.

 

it will all come down to your personal taste in how your car feels ...

but may i ask something first? why are you limiting yourself to just those two choices? if you're considering a Dell'Orto, then i honestly think you should look into Weber carbs as well ... they are just as bitchy, but i think you generally have better support for them.

honestly, you can't go wrong with either one, but if you like the feeling of the Nikki, the Holley is the only one that delivers the same feeling. it's a great low to mid carbie.
the Dell'Orto is a very good carbie, and it makes a little more power. however, it performs best in the mid to high range (though it's not a true screamer). i also find it to be slightly easier to work on, but harder to diagnose.
