Should i do this?
When i had my 85 GSL-SE rebuilt there were problems galore. apparently the car was all stock and so over the past 20 years the engine harness is now pretty much gone. my dad and mechanics say i should convert it to carb with a holley 600. but i say get a haltech ecu and harness. what is the better route to get my car running a.s.a.p?
as far as asap goes the holley would be a good choice because u just bolt it on an go...(assuming its tuned and jetted right etc.) but the haltech would prolly wind up being a lot smoother and better running in the long run especially if ur looiking to upgrade the performance which will prolly require bigger injecters for more fuel but the holley will also boost power too id say leave it up to personal prefrance(ex. do u like the way carb'd cars run?) but if any forced induction is down the line save ur self sometime and go haltech.
i have no experince with the system but ive been happy with several holley carbd cars

NOOOOOOO!!!! Don't go carb! I agree for quickness carb would be the way to go. But IMO once you turn the SE into carb it loses a little of its prestige...to me it would be like taking 79 drums and putting them on the SE. Just does not make sense to me.
i see your point z-beater but if the car runs good it runs good regardless....check out direct freak's profile hes got a hell of a boosted 13b and he put on a holley 600 while waiting for his halteck and said he might keep it on there he liked it so much...im not saying carb is better or anything but let the power, reliability, smoothness, and tunability be your decision makers....also go with what you know cause carbs can take some tuning of a diffrent kind all their own
if your dad/ mechanics can tune the holley then save yourself some cash and throw one on there. the power will definately be there and if you want boost later on... then prepping the holley to take the forced induction is not hard. soo, yea. my vote goes to the holley

easy guys, all i want is to get it running so i can use it to get to work for the time being before i go to basic training for the airforce for 6 weeks. then after that i will start the journey to create an FB that in my opinion should have been built from mazda
Ok, heres a temp fix. Put a junk yard engine harness on it and call it good. No need to spend a **** load of money on it if youre gonna just let it sit while youre gone, and youre never gonna get what you paid for those parts back out of them.
