Ah, it wasn't just a whim. The HEI can handle higher energies. The stock J105/J109
only handle up to about 4 amps and the HEI typically can handle 6 amps. Then if you
get some HIPO ones from, say Summit, they can handle higher energies or faster
cycles. If you use your buddies J109s, make sure to test them first to get good ones
and then grab some extras for when they fail.

Oh, I do plan on using brand new HEI's. I just wanted to know how much better they worked over the 109's. And now I know

Same but supposedly higher performance. I don't know the specs on them but for
almost 2x the cost of the duralast they should be better.

Looks like they have a settable rev range and rpm range. I'm thinking set it to 4 cylinder
and 8000 rpm and your good to go.

Should have gotten the ones from autozone. I paid 24.95 each and they are lifetime. So if I burn em up then they get replaced for free.

I did this and it was what led to the MSD box. One of the ignitors went bad and I had a hell of a time diagnosing it.
