white, brown leather interior, 5 speed, and 122km on engine

he wants 1200 for it!!!! so should i go take a look at it or what?

are these cars nice? the first gen i mean, cause i was looking mostly at 2nds and came across this beauty,

You can get some nice kits for them. but unless it's a GSL-SE your going to trouble finding ANY rims. i have an 84' GSL-SE and i belive that the biggest wheel you can fit is 17" but i am not totally sure about that. At the moment i have a set of 16" Etoria wheels

Thanks, Yes the GSL-SE has a different bolt pattern. Its a bit more popular than the rest of the rx7s.
I am not sure about why they all have the same color interior but i am guessing it is jus more popular

The non-SE 1st gens (S, GS and GSL) all had the 4x110mm bolt patern ONLY used by Mazda and only on older model cars. That means that there aren't many rims made to fit 'em.
The cars came stock with 13" steel or alloy rims. The GSL's have an LSD and 4 wheel disc brakes, the S and GS models had no LSD and rear drums.

The GSL-SE (and some 2nd gens) use the 4x4.5" bolt pattern which is more common (although not THAT common). The rims are mounted on larger disc brakes, and the 5th gear ratio is different as well. Plus -SE's came with more stuff standard (i.e. premium stereo, glass moonroof, power windowsm etc.), 14" alloy 12 spoke rims, and of course the FI 13B engine (as opposed to the carbed 12A in the non-SE's).

I've heard 17" is the biggest you can fit, but Discount Tire Direct lists 18" rims for the GSL-SE. BTW, DTD doesn't sell rims for the non-SE models.

By far the most common/popular interior colour on 1st gens was burgundy, with grey in second, and black a distant third. I haven't seen any other interior colours on a 1st gen.

A good place to look for body kits is Mariah Motorsports.

Lastly, I'm sure everyone here will back me up when I say that 1st gens are GREAT! We all love'em and yes, they are nice.

Yeah, brown iterior is scarce. I just stopped by a local used car dealer that always has some rx7s. And they had, i forgot what year, but it was beige/creme color with brown interior and only 63,xxx on the odometer. Inmaculate interior, but the exterior needed a lot of TLC.

You're right, I just remebered seeing a brown/tan interior '81 GS at work once. The guy had only 31,000 KM on the car. It was the only brown/tan one I've seen. It's also the only one I've seen with the tweed upholstered seats.

yep, i beleive that first gen are better than second. Well, more fun to drive some lightweight rotary rocket. If u want it, check it well, they is alot of website that can tell you waht to check. But, dont forget to check under the bins (2 bolts that hold them, just behind the seats, take a flashlight and look for rust..). Near the door and under the wheels...

it concerns me that your biggest decision on the car is whether 18" rims fit. anyway, be it upkeep is good and rust is minimal, sounds like a good deal. try and talk him down a bit if you can.

The color question might make good poll. Mine is Brown (lucky me)

The first Gens are a little different than the 2nd cause of the carb, (non SE's of course) and the fact that the computer doesn't control so much stuff. There are plenty of mods and kits for the 12A's. It depends on if you want a carb or F.I. They can be tuned up to run just as good as any other NA (normal Aspiration) RX-7.
