Shocks for rear hatch?

I'm waiting for my Victoria British catalogue. Is that where I could find replacement shocks for the rear glass hatch? Or is there a better place to find them? I'm tired of all the bumps on my head!!!

Yeah VB has them for about 40 bucks a pair I think. You could also try your local Mazda dealer if you want to avoid shipping costs.

I need to muster up the cash to buy some myself. I'm just too damn cheap. If it doesn't make it handle better or give power it can wait.

Don't get the VB ones if you intend on using your rear window defroster. The end pieces don't come off so you can't really move the wiring stuff over to the new struts. Go to Advance or Pep Boys and get their "Strong Arm" struts. I don't remember the exact one's, but if you search you should be able to find them. I was very disappointed when I got mine from VB and ended up getting the Strong Arms and setting the VB ones asside. The Strong Arms have a removable end piece that screws off and makes the install a breeze.

I got a pair from Kragens (the shocks were a standard brand I can't remember) for $16 each and only one had to be installed.

JCWhitney also, and yes one will hold the hatch, I used the other one to hold my hood.

I replaced one of mine a month ago with the Strongarm 4709 (formerly 2709), and it worked prefectly. Took all of 10 minutes. I'm sure the side with the wiper and defroster would take a little longer though...

over here at pep boys they have the #2709's still
im going to replace both of mine when I install the hatch glass w/wiper
my 7 came with 2 hatches...the 7 had been used for autox and is currently equipped with just the glass hatch no wiper
however that hatch doesn't have the tabs for the defroster wires
so I need to get the other one with the wiper back on
and being heavier and knowing my current hatch struts are shot im going to replace both

he's not selling 'hatch' struts; although the idea of installing the KYB's in place of the hatch struts is interesting.....catapult anyone?
