Blued finish on an FB?

I've been thinking (not seriously) about striping my SE down to bare metal and finishing it in Gun blueing!!!!!

Anybody ever do this? (I doubt it)

What do you think?

Yeah, I'd be worried about it rusting. Guns can rust even with hardcore bluing.

Very high maintenence, but I'd still like to see it done.

^Lawrence.

Do you think it would look good enough to justify wiping your whole car down with a silicone cloth 3-5 times a week?

You could use that oil/ clear cote used on the p-51 mustang, with no paint. They put this stuff on them after so the planes would not oxidize. It was some sort of oil, and clear cote in one. U would have to oil polish the planes like 1 every few months, or somtehing.

Not reasonable, sorry. It would rust. Bluing would require a tremendous amount of mx to keep it up. And theres seams that were body filled at the factory, like the roof to B pilars that cant be blued. We had someone a while back who wanted ot chrome the whole body, but the same issues came up to shoot it down sorry.

Edit: BTW nice 1911.
