Well, Illuminas are adjustable, the Blues are not. Illuminas will, of course, allow you to fine tune the stiffness. How stiff and how soft compared to the Blues, however, I don't know. Hope this helps you somewhat.
I believe there is one guy whom I spoke to a long time ago and he said he has the Illuminas. And, I think he didn't make mention of them giving him any problem, but that he likes the fact that he can adjust them. Really, I think they'll be just like the Blues but with a greater range of stiffness.
If price isn't a concern, I'd say go for the Illuminas. I myself would prefer something that I can tune to my liking depending on the situation. Plus, I don't think you'll have to worry about them being TOO stiff to where it's like a skateboard ride. They'll still be performance shocks.

The Illuminas are nice if you plan to race. You use the five different settings to set the car up according to the track you are running on, or to fix any handling issues you may be having. If you don't plan on racing, get the blues. If you try to drive on the street with Illuminas set at anything over a 2 (out of 5), you may knock yourself out by hitting your head on the roof of the car. No kidding....

I already bounce around with just blues. But then again the roads in this city are quite rough in some areas. They did however make a wonderful difference compared to the shot stockers. You won't regret putting them on.
Oh man I really want illuminas. However I like Tein but they don't make anything for the 79 or my model the GSL-SE 85' Illuminas have been on my list for a while now. I just got a racing beat anti sway bar kit off ebay.
I've got blues on my SE and I bounce around..but again its all depending on the road.. but i drove one with the stock stuff and there was a huge difference.. I want to try the Illuminas but that will be at a later date i suppose
I've had the illuminas forever and I never felt they were too hard on any setting, based on SOTP. However, a recent inspection did reveal the front two as leakers.
But, that hasn't always been the case and we are talking 75K+ miles. Could it be that my spings are too soft? They are aftermarket (from Previous Owner) so I don't know the brand but they are "race-oriented". What adjustable height springs are good with the illuminas, non-track?

Just tell Billy (screen name Bwaits) what you are running, and he will advise on the spring rate.
Your input on the Illuminas is interesting... I found that a setting of 1 is very "comfortable" and rather soft, but a setting of anything 3 or over on the street will loosen your fillings and bruise the top of your head. I was running RB springs with mine.
