Shock/Strut brand

Hi guys, I'm planning on replacing my stock, worn out shocks/struts and springs. I have racing beat springs, and never been used Koni red adjustable shuts for up front but only one Koni adjustable shock for the back. I would be able to get a full set of new tokico illuminas (adjustable) for a good price, or a set of non adjustable tokico (slightly used) for a good price. I'm kinda leaning towards using the Konis, but wondering g if its worth the hassle of trying to find a rear Koni as they don't make them anymore. Called around to a few bigger name rotary shops with no luck. Any body use the Konis? Are they any better than tokico? Work well with R/B springs? I'm looking for anyone's opinion based on experince. Basically are they any better than tokico? Are adjustables all they are cracked up to be?
BTW, its on an 83 LE. Thanks, Joe

The KYB shocks are supposed to be a killer ride for the money. Koni's are great or so I've heard. I ran Tokico's on my car and loved them. They'll all be great alternatives to stock.

What's your goals and purpose with the car?

My goal is to have a street performance type car, not a track vehicle, but something I would be able to auto cross if I wanted.

I'm a big fan of the Bilsteins from a Porsche 944. Some modifications (boring the ring nut) are required and I will admit we use them on a track car but man are they awesome.

I've used Tokico blues on both my RX7's, and one was SCCA Solo II CSP weekend racer. They're great on the street if you can find them, and they've held up very well over the past 20 years - better than I ever imagined actually.

Over the years, ive collected several blown front strut insert (kyb, konis and tokicos). While at my bros motorcycle shop, i noticed that they use "fork oil" to maintain their bikes. So, i got an idea...drill a hole on the upper section of the strut tube, fill it with 20 weight fork oil, weld it shut, grind and re-paint. Will try it on the kyb next weekend. Will never know until we try

That would be ideal for rebuilding the original S1 and S2 struts if anyone has bothered to keep theirs.

Here is a post that shows how I installed Bilstein struts on my car, works great.
