Shifter **** removal help please.

Hi, I know it sounds funny but, how do you get the shifter **** off? I am haveing trouble with this, seriously. A little help plx.

Grab hard and twist. Elbow grease should fix it. If not, tie a rag around it and twist it with some pliers or something.

You shouldn't have to use some sort of device other than your hands to get it off.

Just twist counter clockwise as mentioned. Pray the previous owner (if there is one) didn't super glue it one.

The shifter does have a "lock nut" on it (unless it was removed and never reinstalled.) Pull the boot down and you will see a silver nut with two flat surfaces on it. Use a wrench and turn it "clockwise" which will turn the lock nut away/down from the shift ****. Once you break the lock nut loose you can then turn the shift **** "counter-clockwise" to remove it. The lock nut prevents the shift **** from becoming loose due to vibrations.

My FB doesn't have a lock nut. It has a round chrome piece if metal attached to the boot whats threaded, but it isn't a nut.
