Shifter Boot repair or replacement

Ok so I have searched and had little to no success....

Does any one have any tips on how to rpait the OE shifter boot, the rubber one. Mine has broken all the nipels but one. It looks ok when the car is out of gear, but relly bad when in gear.

Or any sugestions for a lether or vinal replacement.

Thanks again

Matt

I just put in a black leather boot and black shift **** out of a second gen gxl. It looks a lot better than the faded brown rubber one. It took a little modificaton to fit but wasn't to hard.

Black goes with everything, but it's also available in tan, red, and white

Can anyone post pics of a brown interior and a black boot? I'd like to see how it looks. Would a tan boot work better?

Here's an eBay auction for one. There's a pic of a black boot with a brown interior. That pic happens to be of my interior.

Well.... I noticed this guy, the guy from Fairfax, was selling shift boots on eBay for other cars. I emailed him and asked him if he had a boot for the 1st Gen. He said no but that he would give me one if I helped him design it. So.. I helped him design it, he gave me one and I sent him pictures of it installed. Make sense now?

fits Series 2 and 3 FBs. And it's the same boot as sold by Bill T. on ebay, for a fixed price instead of going through an auction. You can request a different colour of stitching; f'rinstance mine has black vinyl with burgundy stitching to match the interior

It was a tough decision to lose Kryten but that John Cooley Rotary engine was just too cool to pass up.

I just received one from http://www.rotorhead.ca/detail.php?adid=4
Black color..It fits well (installed over original rubber boot) but has to be affixed by owner (no mounting holes or clips..). Plus the stiching is white and has to be stained black, and several of the end threads needed to be knotted off (with very little extra thread...I was surprised double stiching was not used either.. I hope it holds up..

The stitches come white? Hmm, I just ordered one of these recently. Manntis, do they all come with white stiching?

Unfortunately the web site had no mention of that fact at all. It reads the following:

This modification is designed to replace the cheap rubber shifter boot for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation RX-7's. Made from durable vinyl with rugged hand stitching, this easy mod updates the look of your interior without looking out of place. Best of all the boot mounts easily to the base, even if all your little plastic pegs are broken off!
