Wait til you try it... Yeeeeouch! I just put an aluminum billet **** on my C5... 'bout recreated that scene from Indiana Jones....
I now have a Crown Royal bag in my car to cover the ****. Still gets mighty toasty, though. The thing just seems to act like a giant heat sink. And I have a 'vert (no huge glass in the back) and cover the windshield with a sunshade....

As for the engraving part.... The threads can be a little off without it being a problem. Just pick up some Locktite and screw it all the way down. Then back it up so the shift pattern (or whatever you engrave) lines up... 'Tis what I did for mine.

BTW- this forum rocks. You should try getting something custom made over at the C5 forum. They laugh. And laugh. Then laugh some more.

Mantis, what kind of cost are you looking at for the *****? I ask because I have a sparco that looks almost EXACTLY like one of those *****. The only differance is a tiny coller on the bottem that says sparco on it. I got it for $50 at the locaal rice/honduh shop. Its brushed aluminum, and yes it does get damn hot when the car sits in the sun all day.

i had a friend that was a machinist.. he moved, but he machined a **** for me for my car.. its tight, im not sure exactly what its made of, soem kind of metal.. and it gets hot as hell when the car sits in the sun, so i just carry it with me at school or at work. theres a couple threads showing at the bottom, and i have the stock shift boot.. but its all good.. ive gotten used to it, and im not sure what to attach the top of a new boot to to keep it from falling so i deal.

(Soon-to-be-my) '82 base has a Hurst T-**** on it. I drove a friend's Trans Am with one, and didn't like it, but something just feels good about it in the RX7. I think it's got something to do with the spacing of the gates. Sure makes that ol' 1-2 ripshift a lot easier.

just so I know, is $29 in line with what you guys would expect to pay?

Seems reasonable, esp. as I was looking at a slick cobrahead Momo **** until I saw the delusional shop owner was pricing it @ $118...

it's a ****, ferchrissakes...
