Unhappy she rolled over to 100,000 today

I knew it was only a matter of time, no more bragging about low mileage for me. Oh well, still running strong, im sure she has many years a head of her. But the RX only had 46,000 when I got it just 3.5 years ago, but she hasnt broke down once, or given me any major problems, so I guess I cant complain, now if I could only install the yaw carb I got I would be happy!

Wow, my 80LS made it to 212k miles before the engine could not cool it self due to a waterjacket leak and died on the freeway. With 59k miles (if original), I would park that thing and find a daily driver! The early models are the ones to become the collectors items, since they were the front-runners of the design. For this very reason, my 80LS still sits in my garage next to my 84SE (below, in signature line), and the Infiniti Q45 sits out front on the driveway!

Something to think about, the LS was the top of the line for the SA22's.

I just did the metric-to-imperial conversion and came up with :

My '84 GS has 105,280 Miles, or 169,432 km.

Not the lowest milage, but not the highest either. It still remains to be seen how strong the engine is though. I'll see in May.

Car's to be driven. It's not a lawn ornament.

Mine's sitting at 174K Miles... I'm contemplating hooking the speedo cable up to a drill and cranking it to 200K flat when I get her back on the road... Comemorate her rebirth with striaght zeros... Or just register it with out of spec odometer and roll it back to striaght 0's

That's funny. Below 100k is good. Above 200k (like my bro's GSL-SE) is also good. Anywhere between though is bad?

It's kinda like Okay man, it's brand new below 100K... You still leave the protective plastic tape stuff and window sticker on it...

Between 100K and 200K it's that time where it's starting to get broken in and you can't drive it like you stole it or something... Kinda a letdown ya know...

After 200K it's broken in and ready to be thrashed a bit...

between 3 and 500K and you're going for bragging rights... Over 500K and youre going for a record.

Roll it past 900K and you've gotta send it back to the manufacturer... They should ship you a new model to start the cycle all over again.

Lol, yeah if you ever got a seven past 900k, mazda should give you a complimentary 3rd gen or Rx8 or something, for your continued commitment to their cars. I mean think of all the parts you must have bought for it over the years.

I always thought it'd be funky to see a car go over the 999,999 mark and hit all zeros again, but it'd take forever. On my daily driver, which gets 20k kilometres per year, it'd take 50 years... On this car which has accumulated 170,000km in 20 years, it'd take me 118 years to do that. Phew.. that's alot of rotary power.

yes, everything is original except for the battery, plugs, wires, clutch, tires, and hatch seal. that car is my pride and joy. i treat it well. i picked it up for $2025.00. couldn't pass it up. it is solar gold. the interior is MINT. not even a wrinkle in the leather. dash is perfect. nothing is faded and the a/c works! i need to get new factory tips for the muffler. they fell off. the car came from NY, where i purchased it from the original owner, a woman who bought it new. my biggest problem was that she smoked and i had to clean the WHOLE interior with vigor and the windows. i have pretty much worked the smell out of it. Longduck, do you have any pics of your LS???

Make it to 900 000 miles on the original engine and you would be a god. Definately a record there. My friend brags his car has over 900 000 km. No way to tell for sure though. It only goes to 99 999 before it resets. It would have to roll over 10 times to read 900 000km. Its an 80 Camaro Berlinetta. The original V6 engine probably went out at 400 000 (if the 900 000 is true), and the 305 it has now is pumping oil out the tailpipe and barely idles. All it has is a measly little 2 barrel carb too. And he calls it a fast car. I can walk faster.

My car is at about 272 000 km. I'm the 6th owner of the car too. I doubt the engine will make it much past 300 000km. Hell, the underbody barely made it to 272. I totaly redid the underbody though. Its like new and there is little rust on the body itself. Everything is on the engine.

My 240sx has 284,000 miles on it. Bought it when the guy thought it was blown up.. Just had a frozen water pump and needed the block washed real bad. And it runs like a champ. No problems since... what a car....haha but it is slower than my Honda 90.

i rebuilt the engine in my 87 chevy sprint at 341K and sold the car at 344K. it was burning oil due to bad oil control rings. it took 10 hours from start to finish. ran like a champ after the rebuild!

That's my '79

"Gee... I feel like having only 96,547 km's today..."

*Next Day*

"Yeah, My car has like 196,547 km's eh? Who says a rotary doesn't last long?"

*Next Day*

"296,547? Yeah, that's low mileage for a 7"

*Next Day*

"Hello, Mazda, yes, my car has 696,547 km's on it, what'll you give me?"

It's always a fun game trying to guess/calculate approximately how many kilometers my car should have on it according to Carfax and all the past registration kilometer marks...

I have 91,000miles on my turbo converted FB. It has about 5000-turbo miles on it now. But I got it with 76,000miles in oct 2002 with a blown inner water seal which I purchased for $300 with no rust and near perfect interior after I cleaned it. Hopefully it will last now for a while with the boost.

i saw a mitsubishi galant at the mitsubishi dealership getting serviced that had 960,000 miles on it. it had the original engine. there was a story behind it but i can't remember what the service tech said. it was actually still in pretty good shape!
