Serious Question
What is a street port, or a bridge port? Which is better, and how much does this cost? Finally what exactly are you doing?
Please Help!

Step 1. Do a search
Step 2. Re-ask if questions remain.
Ah, hell, I'll just give a quick summary anyway.
The best way to make a rotary engine more powerful (though fully useless unless you upgrade the exhaust and intake) is to port it. What is porting? well the ports are basically the holes through which the gas enters and the exhaust leaves the engine. Enlarge the port = increase in flow.
A "Street Port" enlarges the port a bit, so that you get more gas in, thus more explosion, and thus more power, but is still quite ok to drive on the street (except in Cali of course).
A "Bridge Port" is for racers, since the enlarging of the port also reults in worse drivability. It enlarges the port EVEN MORE to increase the effect, but it makes your car idle higher, and perform like crap in the city. As I said, mainly for Racing
The "J" port or "Monster Port" as it's sometimes called, is frigging huge.
Now do pages 21-36 in your workbook, search the forum, and come back next week for our lesson on how to add 15 horsepower simply by adding winshield washer lights (just kiddin')

Street porting is the next best thing to a good exhaust upgrade.
I think when everyone on the forum asks in what order to upgrade their rx7 they are told
1: go get a racing beat exhaust system
2: now go get a street port
3: time for a new carbie
the only reason I dont put carb ahead of a good street port job is because along with the carb you will need
-new intake manifold
-new fuel pump
-fuel pressure gauge and regulator to set the proper psi
-possibly some new fuel lines as well
while on the other hand with porting you can retain all your old fuel delivery equipment while gaining a substantial Hp increase.
not only that but you will in the process bring your stock hp back up to the stock level, i.e. you will obviously be rebuilding your engine.
You could also have your stock intake ported and your stock carb ported then have them port matched for higher performance through your new street port.
a full intake and engine port job with racingbeat exhaust will yield a very satisfying hp gain over just the exhaust system upgrade.
I offer full porting services including
mild and extend engine porting
full intake porting
carb modify with porting
intake assembly port matching
I am in the works of a website to illustrate my services offered.
I have ported several engines thus far and more intakes and intake systems then I can count on my fingers and toes.
I have some great before and after pictures along with some dyno results.
Site should be completed within the next couple weeks, right now i am working on a 12a extend port job + full engine rebuild and complete intake and carb port job for a customer who gave me a strict deadline.
drop me a p.m. if your interested

well thats what the website I'm building is for.
If you can do the math the street port is a gain based on a percentage that increases along with other hp variable components in, on , or connected to your engine.
find the base persentage for a racingbeat exhaust system, factor that in to stock hp, then factor in the percentage for a mild or extend streetport, then factor in intake/carb porting or upgrading.
pretty decent figure huh?
now do the same minus the port job and nock some hp off the stock figure since the engine is used and no less then 18 yrs old.
oh yeah and the exhaust and intake systems are only seeing 1/2 or less of their potential due to the engine restrictions.
I am not saying its the cheapest mod out there, but we all know your lying if you say your hitting 12's on a stock port NA 12a
just some food for thought

Then again with that amount of work you might as well port it and run 11s
