sensors ????'s

I was wondering what these sensors are? Do I need them? This is going in a 66 vw baja. If one is a oil level sensor does it just send a ground to a light? This was in the "other rotary" but is taking too long, sorry.

I just spent like a few minutes staring at your car haha. VW? Nice! 2 and 3 are oil level sensors, they actually make a block off for #2 and I dont know what #1 is, what year engine is that, or what car did it come from?

The engine is a 12a 1985. I took #1 out and it looked like a water passage behind it. It almost looks like it might heat up when 12 volts is applied to the two little prongs, but I might be wrong as well, lol. Does one of the sensors turn on a light when the oil is low? and which one? Thank you also, it is work in progress but hopefully a real show and go project when done. I am hoping to keep the weight to 2000lbs or less.

Actually, I think number 2 is an oil level sensor, but number 3 is a sub-zero sensor. Not sure about number 1. I'm pretty sure it's in a water passage, but my 13B just has a blank plug in it.

Good luck,
Rich

The sub-zero sensor tells the ecu to injects a mixture fo 90% antfreeze and 10% water into the intake for cold starts, during cold weather. Take it out and put a plug in in there, you don't need it.

#2, the oil level sensor, does go to a warning light in the oem dash, it also sets off a warning buzzer.

#1 is where the block drain plug goes. The only sense I can make out of the 12 volts is it may be an aftermarket temp sensor. Perhaps not the best place to put it. but the install would be easy.

I didn't get a chance to pull the sub-zero sensor(a bracket is in the way) but I have another sensor (#5)on the back of the water pump housing that I have no idea what it is. The #4 is a second hose close to the base of the oil filler. Do I need this? If they are both breathers do I only need one and block the other or does it still need a filter? Which is better to use? Thank you for all the help.

5 goes to the ecu and as near as I can tell on mine, it allows the magnetic choke to work. I think it tells the choke when to pull off.

For the crankcase vent, you can cap one off and run the other to a catch can.

Did You figure out what that sedor is in the block drain?

For the sub-zero sensore, you can simply cut the wire if you don't want to chase down a plug for it.

I belive it to be a block heater, I took it out and cleaned it and it reads: 115 volt 300 watts. I am gonna get a plug for it and see if it works. Has anyone seen this type of heater? It is made in canada(makes sense). Anyone need one real bad? I don't know if I would even use it.
