Selling Eclipse to fix 83 RX-7
I am in love with this car. It was givin to me. It has been sitting for 10 years. I changed the plugs, all fluids (including fuel), and gave it some carb cleaner. Fires on the first try. I was told the engine has 50,000 miles on it. But... Im having a drivability issue. Backfire while coasting and no power past the primarys. It will fall flat on its face. Im guessing the carb is to blame for both problems? I allready have a rebuild kit but just want a second and third and fourth opinion.
Im 6' 2 and fit in the 7 without hitting my head on the roof. Unlike the Mitsubishi.
I just want a good back and forth to work car. The time for going fast has left. I have a 4yr old son and another on the way. The wife will get the family car with the money i get from the Eclipse. Minus a grand to fix the 7. Im sure that will be more than enough.
Oh I forgot to mention I bought a 85 gsl with no engine for 75 bucks. I needed the exhaust desperately. Along with the car came a brand new Clutch and Brake master cylinder. (Also needed). The 83 has drum brakes while the 85 has disk. What would be eaiser, swapping the rear axle or just the parts. Along with the porportioning valve too right?
And if somebody needs something from the 85 let me know.
The 83 is definately a project car. But thats the fun in it.
