Second Gen Rad Install Pics

Hey guys, Picked up a free 2nd gen rad and e-fan the other day. I read that install was simply replacing for the stock unit, however the lower hose gave me clearence problems against the motor mount. so I had to find a better way to mount the rad and second gen oil cooler. Took me about 3-4 hours, and I can say it was worth it. all the extra room in the engine bay is nice, but acording to my aftermarket temp gauge, on the highway it used to be steady at 175 degrees, and now its 165. And i still have to work on the shrouding a little bit. I rarely have to use my e-fan now even when its 33 outside. Its a fairly rushed amature job, but i wouldn't mind putting a tutorial togeather if requested. Take a look.

I was going to install mine and ran into the same issues, can you post some pics of the lower rad hose and the mounts? Thanks!

Weigh everything you removed. I'm gonna weigh an Aluminium FC radiator when I get the chance. We'll post numbers. It looks lower than the stocker, but further foreward. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Regardless, it looks NICE! Perhaps another vehicle can be found that has appropriate hoses.

The rad is definately lighter than the stocker, and with the fan shrouding, and rad mounts I removed included, its probably 10-15 pounds lighter. The aluminum rad is suprisingly light. the biggest difference i've noticed besides running 10 degrees cooler, is how well it cools at low speeds. If i wer going any less than 50 MPH i'd have to run the fan with my old setup, now cruising 25 I can see the temps drop fast from sitting at a light. Its great!

An installation tutorial would be a welcome addition to this forum. Detailed information on the mounting of the radiator is pretty scarce....

Yes, please! Details on the mounting of it would be awesome.... I have a 2nd gen rad in mine, but was not able to figure out how to get that angle on it.

maybe cause you could mount the oil cooler in line where it slants out, and keep your ground clearance better.

Oh, and I'm not sure what kind of fan it is, its some kind of aftermarket, But I don't like it very much, doesn't push much air, I think i'm gonna go back to my old taurus fan
