Try grounding the radio chassis to dash.

We already did that, we screwed it on to where the tape deck screws in

make sure your "radio" fuse hasn't popped, along with any possibly inline fuses on your ACC and CONSTANT wires. (not familiar with the 79) yellow is constant on the deck and red it acc, the stock wires should be accordingly but don't go by color. get a meter to check those voltages on the stock wires.

We dont have a meter =/ isnt there a wireing guide like for the FC's maybe? All fuses look fine in the fuse box, the awia deck's 15amp fuse is fine so idk if it fried. Yes red is acc and yellow is constant on the deck.

OK

even more effing odd
I removed 2 fuses, the radio, heater, etc and one other...the rest didnt have anything to do with audio so I took out the two fuses. There both fine. The manual we have says both should be 20A fuses I believe, one dosent say but they are the same brand and look rather the same size and everything, the other clearly says 15A. The heater works, the lights work and stuff. I removed the fuse!! Whyw ould the heater/blower work when its fused is removed???

This shows the power connectors on the stock radio, I had to use it to transpose everything to get all the wires in the right place. Hope it helps.

nah. We had some stock pos with only radio and had **** to do the sound and vol on each side its a 79 then below we had the tape deck by clarion....we have just straight out speaker wires.

Ok I took a lightbulb and grounded the bulb to the dash where the tapedeck screws in and touched the wires to the light bulb and no light =[ man looks like we need to just wire this puppy to the battary or theres a hidden blown fuse =[

Update: We can't find a ACC nor Constant wire. I found out that the red wire going to the radio on the 3 prong connector gets power when the light swich is on BUT this radio dosent have any lights on on it weird. I checked everyother wire, we got the deck to turn on with the red cable, turned on the lights, put both acc & constant on the red wire from the deck and on it came but how are we supposed to connect it now with out a constant and acc? Also I cant find a blown fuse =[

buddy, get a multimeter. $10, and it's invaluable when troubleshooting.

I'd say that if you can't find constant and acc, run them yourself.

From cowboy's thoughtful diagram, battery+ should be one or the other, and run the other one.

Try this link. It was invaluable when I did the install in my 83. It doesn't go back to '79, but the basic wire colors/function are probably the same.

How would we go about running our own? Putting a constant through the firewall? What about the ACC? I was personally thinking since the car dosent seem to need the two swiches at the bottom by the shifter (ones for lights to go up with out the lamps on, one has a antenna symbol on it and it just flicks up, the otherone idk wtf it does but nothing happens for anyof them cept the lamp one.) I'm going to put a 12V from the car battary for constant and another for ACC would that work and make the acc swiched? or is acc less power? All I know is constant is the memory and it has 12v through it and the red acc has power in it to turn on the deck.
