MY car just drives overall smoother with it. It pops less fireballs, but that just means ts actually using more of the fuel that is there.

With the 2nd gen coil set up I averaged an increase of 1.5 MPG on the Freeway versus the stock leading coil set up.

Are you running 2nd gen leading plugs or the stock 1st gen ones?

and most of all taking away from other peoples time to help me set it all up

so would there be any point in putting a 2nd get for the trailing? or would that not change anything?

just don't, the trailing isn't important enough, and your Tachometer is wired in with your stock trailing coil, so that's a circuit you probably don't want to mess with.

Yes I am referring to the plugs.

Reference to the 2nd trailing coil being used. That as well as this topic has been covered as much as the last election.

You can't run a 2nd gen trailing coil unless you run the CAS and the 2nd gen ECU or a Mega Squirt or other type of fuel management system.

The 2nd gen plugs are designed for usage with the direct fire ignition system.

You can get the 2nd gen plugs at CSK Auto or Schucks as we know it in Oregon for $6.00 ea.

NGK is the only spark plug wires that I use but there are others out there.

Time to start learning the search function as this is a basic subject and has been well covered.

Search with the basic terms ignition wire or spark plug cables.

I just wired up 2GCDFIS on percent's car today and my brother's GSL yesterday. The GSL is going in for a 4 port 13B upgrade pretty soon but I was able to test it a little on the current 12A before it gets pulled (always good to test these mods before doing something big like an engine swap). The current 12A usually stalls and doesn't run well cold because the carb or compression aren't up to snuff, but it actually ran ok with the 2nd gen coil plugging away in there. I'll know more once the more familar (and better running) 13B goes in, as it currently has DLIDIFIS connected to it, and runs great in the Cosmo.

Percent's engine now fires up faster with 2GCDFIS. It also has a better part throttle response and doesn't bog as much as the stock system did. He'll be able to compare them more fully as time goes on. Switching back to stock takes about 30 seconds.

so i think i got 2nd gen plugs now, i took them out of a 12a at a junk yard that was obviously worked on when it was alive. they are massive compared to my old ones, but the part that screws in is identical, its got the fatty 4 corners around the center. 2 say L on them and 2 say T, i put them into leading and trailing and i put on ngk wires that also came out of that car. fires up faster and more efficiently now, never dies on me when first started, really responsive, good upgrade.
only thing thought is it shuts off funky, the engine kind of shakes when i kill it. its weird i'll try and post a video tomorrow
