Seafoam equivalents
Seafoam equivalents
Hello,
Everyone talks about the wonderous Seafoam, can anyone tell me what this product actually is? I've never seen it in Australia - is "Spitfire" the equivalent product? I've searched and seafoam threads only tell of how wonderful it is and what it does...
While I'm at it, what is "Lucas"...?
Cheers

http://www.google.com is your friend
...That would be one way.
Seafoam has their own website; http://www.seafoamsales.com/
As for equivalents? I've heard that MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) works just as well if not better by some people.
I can't think of any others off the top of my head right now, but to answer your question about Lucas Motor Oil; if you're talking about the oil stabilizer. It somehow thickens and 'revives' your oil, how I haven't figured out... but the stuff does work; I threw a quart in there since it recommended a percentage that was conveniently the exact amount of oil I needed.

The Lucas works great if your oil control rings are worn out. Puts a stop to the smoke blowing out the tailpipe every time you let off the gas at high rpms.
I've never found anything that works as well as Seafoam for cleaning the carbon out of the apex seals and restoring compression. No idea if there is anything equal to it...

Sea Foam is a good product but 44k is the best I have ever seen and used. When I was a Service Manager we used it in the vehicles that had excessive carbon build up on valves. A lot of the BMW's would come in with low compression and after having them drive the car with a can of 44k in it the compression would be restored. It also did wonders for cleaning out fuel injectors with spray pattern problems.
It usually can only be found at better Garages and Dealerships and last time I bought some (about 2 years ago) it was around $22.00 a can.

There is something out there.. I believe its made by berryman. Called Berryman b-12..I believe it works out the same as seafoam as a fuel injection cleaner. I will find out and get back with you on that.
Berryman B12 has been around for a long time also and is a good product. It is for Carbureted or FI applications.
The Gumont Regane was another excellent cleaner.
