Did it backfire?
Verify that the AFM door moves freely and returns to the closed position.
Did you recently do any repairs under the hood?

the car usually starts fine, cold or hot, everyday, all day. i removed the afm afterward and its in good condition. the door moves great, it looks good. i also tested it using my multimeter and the procedures shown in the fsm. it seemed to test fine. im sure i have fuel pressure just not how much. i can hear the fuel pump and have taken off the fuel line to confirm i had gas. looks good i just cant measure the pressure. it should at least idle, even with a slight blockage or lower than normal fuel pressure. im starting to think a carb aint such a bad idea. the only recent repair was to the blower motor but i doubt there related.

First let me say that I am in the learning process of the SE, so you may want to take what I say in light of that fact. Have someone turn the car over and just very lightly play with the throttle. See if forcing the throttle plates closed or maybe by cracking them open a hair allows the car to start and stay running. If it does, the problem is in the TB. Also, I thought for sure that my SE wasn't flooded, until I went through the "de-flooding" procedure by RX-7doctor, and sure enough it started. The injectors were old and leaky. Once I took care of that, it always started. I still would not rule out that you car is getting flooded.

good thought on the tb. ill try that tomorrow seing as its raining now. the only reason i say im not flooded is becuase from what i understand it wont start at all flooded. mine will start for about 2 or 3 seconds then die. i also took out the bottom plugs while starting it. the plugs had no gas on them and tyhey didnt smell like gas either. the only things i can confirm are working are good comporession, spark, and fuel. i really appreciate the help from you guys.

Lets try a different direction. Start with replacing the fuel filter. If that doesn't show improvement, drain the fuel tank. Filter the fuel and check for sediment. You can pick up cone style paint filters at any autobody paint supply store or poke a fuel hose in the drain hole with a carb type fuel filter at the end of the hose. Shake car while draining. If you find excessive amounts of sediment, it's time to drop the tank, have it boiled and sealed.
You can also disconnect the supply line from the fuel pump, add a longer hose and drop the end of the hose in a gas can with clean clear fuel. If that shows improvement, have the tank boiled and sealed. Most radiator shops can boil fuel tanks, some sell sealing kits, so does Eastwoods.

When i picked up my SE...it worked for about 4 days and started sputtering after 4 rpm.....i replaced the spark plugs but it didnt fix the problem....i then replaced the fuel filter thinking that it was the solution, and found that it was clogged with 20year old debris from inside the tank...i removed the tank and had it professionally cleaned....i reinstalled the tank with a new fuel strainer and filter and the car wont even start ....i decided to replace the fuel pump and now the car works...barely got it running again today
how old is your fuel pump?....if it's as old as your car then its probably time for a replacement ANYWAYS...check your fuel filter and gas tank condition (i recommend cleaning out the tank if there is much debris in there)...things like fuel pump and fuel filters should be replaced routinely anyways....its probably been about 20 years+
P.S..... Radiator shops clean out gas tanks and it cost me about $100
