SE rear hatch struts question
im about ready to begin assembling my rear glass with the wiper
my 7 currently has a non wiper glass on it and it's defroster is farked..both clips are sheared off
both struts are shot..fun when loading groceries
do I just need one new strut and then source an SE strut with the wiper wiring on it, or can this wiring be attached to a new strut?
I see there are 2 connections at the top and one plug at the bottom for the motor..I know the oem strut has these built into it basically..but i'd like 2 new struts

From what I remember, the strut for the wiring is no longer available. You will need 2 new standard struts and wire around for best fit. If you want the defroster working again, the FSM shows how to make repairs, including soldering new tabs and bridging broken filaments.

Or else what you do is make sure the struts you buy have a threaded eye on the end, that way you can cut off the eye on the strut that has the wiring on it, and then instatll the hardware onto the new strut. Then just screw the eyelet back onto the end and you are done, thats what i did with the struts i bought at advanced auto parts.

The new Strong Arm struts I bought at the local parts store were $30 each and detail on the package how to attach the old wiper harness on to the Strong Arm strut. You have to chop the OEM strut to get the hardware bits off, but it looks like they can be installed on the new strut. I also bought a new OEM pre-wired strut a couple of years ago as a spare - it was well over $150!!

Stu's right. Strong Arm part #2709. Has been re-numbered to 4709 when I bought my last one. Even has instructions for the wiper and defroster. Make sure the instruction are in the pack you buy.
