Question 84-85 Rear wheel bearing question

Ok, so I bought rear oil seals, and what I thought was just the bearings(but actually were kits) from VB a while back, and now finally am getting around to doing the work. Anyways I opened up the bearings only to find a completely different style oil seal than the other ones. The bearings came with rubber seals, that have an extra lip and are visually much larger, than the seperate ones which are just little metal and rubber seals that look like the top part of the big rubber seals. Has anyone else ever encountered this? Which ones should I use? I checked in the catalog and they are both for the 84-85 model as well...

If the are the right ID to fit the axle shaft and the right OD to fit in the housing, then use them.
Shouldnt matter that they look different,so long as those dimensions are correct.

Ehh...if they are the same size where it matters(ID/OD),I doubt that one is better than the other.
The wheel bearings have their own seals and the backing plate has a gasket where it meets the housings....it kinda makes the axle seals redundant. And its not like they have a hard job.Only a small amount of oil makes it that far down the axle tube, and its not pressurized or anything.
What ever seal you choose to run,as long as it fits the axle shaft and the housing,it really shouldnt matter.
