SE fuel tank into SA

Matt's putting Carmen's engine into his SA, and we're thinking about swapping over the fuel tank as well. Knowing the SA hatch floor is a different stamping (larger spare well, for one) how much work is involved in swapping over the GSL-SE fuel tank into the SA body?

I did the same swap. It was pretty easy. i used a sawzall al cut out the spare tire well and had a new bottom piece made at a local sheetmetal shop.. raise it up and welded it in.. used the same tank straps to secure it in. just having gas gauge issues now

If you *really* just had to hack up an SA....

The most SANO way of doing it would be to cut the -SE's well out including some of the floor, maybe leave a 1/2" or so wide "tab" all the way around, then cut the -SA's well out just *barely* outside the well (leave no tab, basically) then just sit the FB well down ion there, zap zap weld it in, goop it up from underneath with seam sealer to prevent rust, and done.

Beat me to it. This will allow for the space saver spare. I do consider this as a last resort option if you cannot locate a good SA tank.

He already has an SA tank on the SA, but going from Carb to EFI we're looking @ swapping everything over.

The tank shouldn't be necessary.

Then I take it you are installing an SE tank. If not, then there is no reason for the change.

Doh! I do my best at reading comprehensively, and often between the lines when needed. That being said, you have my support for the swap and I will now go find a wet noodle and immediately flog myself for my errors.
