SA22C ratsnest
ok heres my problem, im in the progress of removing my rats nest.
I have an 1980 so the carb is slightly diffrent than FB`s, as you see in the first pic.
There are 4 small holes and a large one below that is giving me a headache,
As i read in the tutorial the vacuum lines from the dizzy goes to hole number 2, but the carb in the tutorial is diffrent when it comes to holes so im confused.
The shutter valve and purge valve are two things i dont have, arent those supposed to be on 80`s ?
On picture number 2 you see another hole i dont know where goes
And on picture number 3 and 4 there is a metall pipe that`s running from the carb and under the car along with the exhaust.
It`s not connected to a thing it`s just ends halfway under the car.
A big thanks to those off you helping me

Wow.. you're a lucky bugger today
I just got a whack of pictures from another forum member of what a 1980 car looks like in ARGENTINA (a rockin' country, if I do say so myself) where cars came stock without emissions stuff.
Which means I have a ton of pictures on how your car should be setup. I was going to stow them quietly away on a cd and lose them somewhere, but if you have an e-mail that can take like 3mb of data, then I can send you a bunch of pics to try and help you out
I'd post them here, but I have no online hosting that I can use, and I don't want to shrink the images enough to post 'em here.
If you've got a Gmail account... or hell, even an upgraded Hotmail Account, I might be able to send them on over PM me. Or if anyone can host them, I could archive it for the poor SA guys.

Damn,
I just checked the pictures, and unfortunately they won't help you as far as the connectors on the carb spacer are concerned.
I did come up with a little useful info for you though:
The outlet in picture #2 should go to your air cleaner box.
The tube in pictures #3-4 should have originally fed oxygen to some part of your exhaust system. Try to find where it used to connect, because you probably have a leak there. The good news is that you can take that pipe off completely and block it at the manifold with a blockoff plate.
The problem with removing your emissions is that I still see a catalytic converter on there in picture #4. That is probably already clogged due to the lack of oxygen getting to it. Also probably explains partly why it looks exactly the way mine did (all red and burnt/rust-ish).
Gut the cat or replace it with a straight pipe. Or get RB exhaust if you have the money But don't leave the cat on there because it WILL clog if it hasn't already.
As for the connectors on the spacer, the only thing I can tell you is that you should only have three things connecting to those five connectors. Leading vacuum solonoid, Trailing vacuum solonoid and A/C (if applicable). I'll still see if I can post the pictures I have so that this can be archived for information, but it looks as if we're going to have to do some more sleuthing to figure out which goes where. My best bet is that it's probably the same as the later model spacers (like in the tutorial) and the later models just had extra connectors added for the extra emissions stuff.

Apology to Xlr8Planet
I hate it when people mess up on my country, so I'm really sorry I forgot which part of the world you were from!
I was confusing you with another guy who had bought his car in Africa and mentioned it had no rat's nest...
Man.. oh well even moderookies make mistakes!
I fixed my post, modded yours so that everyone knows what an awesome guy you are for sharing your pics... now if I could only host them!

Crankcase Vent should be going to the big honkin' hose in the intake mani on pic 1.
As it is in your pics, it looks like you already have it hooked up right.
Can I get a more zoomed-out shot? Covering from the oil filler tube to the connections at the base of the carb, and from the vacuum advance solonoids to the throttle linkage? It would make it a bit easier to trace lines.

Okay, cool.
Looks like you have the crankcase vent hooked up right.
The "T" should connect to the second connector on the carb spacer if the spacers are similar as I suspect.
I notice you have an RB air cleaner... and I'm guessing that it doesn't have any holes on it where you could connect the tube from the rotor housing... hmm....
Well I notice on the manifold there is a second hookup beside the big crankcase vent one.. it's a bit smaller and to the left. Xlr8planet's car doesn't have that, and neither does mine, so I don't know what it's for... perhaps that's where that hooks up?
If that's just something that normally vents air to the air cleaner, you can probably *for now* leave it vented to the atmosphere while you test and refine everything else. I'd try running the tube vented first, then try connecting it to the manifold.
Anything on the carb side that you don't use, cap.
